Interfaith Programs. AZC is committed to fostering interreligous understanding. AZC members give frequent presentations at other religious institutions and at interfaith events. AZC is a member of the Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, for which AZC has delegates who you can contact if you are interested in being involved with this valuable work. We also contribute a team yearly to the CROP Walk.
Hospice and Home Care. A team from Austin Zen Center is also currently providing home assistance (running errands, doing housework, hanging out, etc.) for a patient (care partner) with cancer in collaboration with the Interfaith Care Alliance. Zen Center people have also provided end of life care and have begun working with Hospice Austin.
Contempeltive Recovery. A substance-abuse group meets weekly at Austin Zen Center. The model is similar to Alcoholics Anonymous, but based on Buddhist principles. It integrates meditation periods with discussion. Read more.
The Austin Zen Center also provides a place for groups engaged in meaningful social action to meet. We also provide a venue for Heritage Neighborhood Association (representing our neighborhood) picnics.
